Project Description:
Estimize is a crowd-sourced network which collects structured financial predictions submitted by its users, professional analysts. Users can make predictions about macro factors such as next month's unemployment rate, or the next earnings report of a top company. The idea is to take advantage of crowd-sourecd wisdom and prediction markets, where research has suggested that crowd-sourced predictions can be more accurate than traditional analyst consensus. Financial network analysis is a clustering method that uses the number of Estimize users that cover multiple stocks in common as a measure of similarity; or the correlation of two stocks based on their shared analyst coverage. Some stocks have a great deal of analyst overlap in the Estimize dataset indeed.
