Project Description:
Music journalist Hans-Jurgen Schaal has developed this volume, illustrated by German graphic designer, illustrator, and book artist Robert Nippoldt, which covers jazz's iconic venues, recording sessions, and the major "band battles". Also included are infographic-inspired maps, like this sociogram of recording sessions, showing the major jazz figures, sized by the number of recording sessions they made and their connections with other jazz musicians.
