Project Description:
In this study, European researchers gave 119 people in a hospital ward RFID tags and tracked their face-to-face interactions to analyze the potential spread of airborne pathogens. Individuals are the circular nodes on the edge, where the size is proportional to how many people that person has interacted with. The size of the outer circle reflects the number of total contacts, while the colored circle indicates the number of interactions with other people from the same group. The visualization shows readily that nurses interact the most with people across the hospital, suggesting that strategically they would be the best group to focus on in case of an outbreka.
