Project Description:
Jocelyne Hebling's team explored the concept of complex systems, where the individual behaviors of actors affect the systemic structure and vice versa, by focusing on the U.S. Food System and its organizations, individuals, and processes. The team systematically mapped the positive and negative correlations between such factors as agricultural production, consumer consumption, energy cost, international trade, environmental factors, and others. Nodes represent specific factors, and solid lines between nodes indicate positive correlations, while negative correlations are represented by dashed lines.
