Project Description:
This interactive taste map visualizes the work of researchers that have created a flavor map. Edges connect foods that have components in common. The thicker the edge, the more components are shared. The researchers also compared this flavor network with different recipe databases and saw that chefs tend to pair ingredients with shared flavor compounds. Similar foods are grouped into category columns, the size of the dot indicating the popularity of the food in a 56498-recipe database. Foods at the top of the page share flavor compounds with many foods, foods at the bottom of the page are unique.
