Project Description:
The Product Space is a network that appeared in the article "The Product Space Conditions the Development of Nations", formalizing the relationships between products traded in the global economy. Metal products, machinery, and chemicals make up the core of the network, while various resource extraction and agricultures make up the periphery. The network is built up by export and import trade data and was generated by developing a maximum spanning tree and then displaying the links of high proximity. The Product Space has implications for development economics and can be used to study the evolution of a country's production structure.
